Several years back, just about the time we launched our coffee company, I had a dream. In this dream, I was on a train going through an abandoned town like after a war, with industrial buildings. As I was passing this industrial building I saw kids, young kids maybe 1-2 years old, sitting in the mud with hay and there was a fire hose spraying them with water and I began weeping in the dream saying to God, I'll take them all in, I'll take them all in. I then woke up out of the dream still in that state.
Since then, a burning passion to have an impact on taking these kids in has been growing. Within the last 2 years, we came across this ministry called Footprints, which is an extension of Stop for The One with Heidi Bakers Ministry in South Africa. Footprints is an orphanage ministry best described by this quote "Each child living in an Iris Center is no longer an orphan, but a son or daughter adopted by Papa God and by our Iris family. Partner with us today!" Footprints currently have over 40 kids taken them into their own home which they call their family!
What has all this to do with coffee? Well, you see, it takes money to impact nations. The bigger the company is the more impact it has. We started this company for 3 reasons: to provide exceptional-tasting coffee to everyday Americans and those around the world, to impact & transform nations, and to make a living ourselves. One of our visions is to one day, fund or have an entire orphanage from what we do at Lion's Head Coffee.
